Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff ruled that MP3.com willfully violated Universal’s copyrights by posting thousands of CDs on its controversial My.MP3.com service and said the San Diego-based digital music company would have to pay $25,000 for each online CD which violated Universal’s copyright. The NFL this afternoon awarded CBS the Thursday night package, picking the network over competing bids from ABC, Fox, NBC and Turner. It is not known how much CBS paid for the package, but sources said the initial bids were in the high $200M range for the year. The agreement is for the ‘14 season with an additional year at the NFL’s option. CBS will carry eight early-season games that will be simulcast on NFL Network....

Over on Neversoft’s official page the company has posted some career information that suggests they are hiring for a new Call of Duty related project. The page itself doesn’t outright say that Neversoft is working on some form of Call of Duty project, but the series’ logo at the bottom of the page suggests they are. And now the front page of Neversoft’s home page, the one that leads to the aforementioned career page, says outright that the developers they are looking for will be working on pushing “the First Person Action genre in support of Activision’s Call of Duty franchise....

With Destiny’s popularity still high, and with Bungie and publisher Activision planning a couple more expansions this year, it’s no surprise that the lead developer may be looking for a little assistance. At least that seems to be the case thanks to a recent job posting from developer High Moon Studios. The job listing showed up on Activision’s careers page that shows High Moon Studios is working with Bungie on Destiny....
