Transformers Universe hits open beta this Friday, July 4, 2014 (Independence Day in the U.S.) and to play all you have to do is head to the official website www.transformersuniverse.com to register and download when available. Almost half a million players have already registered. It’s browser-based so it very easy and quick to download, install and jump online.
The basic gameplay and style blends the 3rd-person action, combat and transformations of Activision’s Transformers titles and movie tie-ins from developer High Moon Studios but is officially labeled by Jagex as a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). Players take on the role of a Commander as they unlock, customize and enhance their Warriors, all of which have different weapons, abilities and roles to play, from long-range combat specialists to mechanics.
To celebrate the public release - which is perfectly timed just a week after Transformers: Age of Extinction opened in theaters - Jagex will host a special 24-hour live Twitch stream this weekend (11am EDT July 5 - 11am EDT July 6) and players who jump in can enjoy double XP earnings. $75,000 worth of prizes will also be awarded to players.

Mark Gerhard, Jagex CEO & CTO:
We’ve already jumped in and will have details to share on our experience along with impressions of the beta. Currently in the closed beta, two-thirds of the players are Decepticon Commanders so come join my Autobot friends and fight the good fight!
“True to our heritage we’ve pioneered a game in which all content can be enjoyed for free, simply through play. With almost two million battle victories recorded during the Closed Beta, our players evidently had the most fun – and success – while playing together with their friends in teams. I’ve been delighted to see teams invent strategies and tactics that we had not even imagined, and can’t wait to see what new players come up with.”
